I think I follow....
You probably know that you can change a text box to a picture box and vice
versa. So have you thought about building your template with text boxes
containing the names of the images, then using a script to convert the text
boxes to picture boxes? We have a workflow that involves importing an Xtags
files that creates an embedded text box which contains text specifying the
path to an image. The script then converts the box and imports the image.
Or maybe your solution is as simple as creating EPS labels that can be placed
in your picture boxes and replaced with real images later. Then you don't
even have to change box content.
