That's the sad state of affairs reflected in the BBC these days. And
why did they drop Daljit Dhaliwal for someone who doesn't enunciate

From CNN's web site
<
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/anchors_reporters/cnni/dhaliwal.daljit.html>:
Daljit Dhaliwal is an anchor for CNN International, based in the
network's Atlanta headquarters. Currently, Dhaliwal is an anchor for
World News and also hosts World Report, CNN's longest running
program, which gives the world's broadcasters a global forum from
which to report the news 'as they see it' to the rest of the world.
Dhaliwal joined CNN in August 2002. An accomplished broadcast
journalist, Dhaliwal was previously an anchor for the British
Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) 24-hour international news channel,
BBC World. She then went on to anchor World News for Public
Television, which was produced by Britain's ITN network, and seen
throughout the United States. Dhaliwal also co-anchored ITN's
Channel Four News and served as a primetime anchor on ITN's 24-hour
news channel. While at ITN, she also anchored World Focus, a weekly
international news show....
I think that it was Daljit who dropped BBC, and later ITN, to go for
the gold. Good for her. Were this ten (or even five) years ago I
would expect her to head for one of the American big-three within a
year or two and wind up on a morning show, maybe graduate to weekend
anchor. These days I suspect she will find her best-compensation
niche with the CNN companies and do quite well.
