It could be a version 5 problem; I haven't bothered with "upgrading". It
could also be the fact that the document you're opening is on a remote
volume; try moving the file to the startup volume.
Shane-
I finally got it to work by using an existing Quark file rather than a file
generated via the Quark template.
I don't know if this could be the source of the problem, but the template was
created as a Quark 4.11 file. It stands to reason that the file created
therefrom would be a Quark 4.11 file as well, yes/no? (I get no info about the
version from Get Info.)
I was able previously (using the template) to generate a file via the script
in the Test folder; however, I was never able to open any such file. The one
generated via the existing Quark file behaved normally (i.e., I could open it,
etc.).
Given the centrality of Quark in the world of prepress, print, etc., this
seems like a major bug in Quark 5, don't you think? If so, who should I
contact at Quark about this?
Thanks very much for your help-and thanks also to Goran Ehn for your
suggestions as well.
Ethan
