That should take care of the timeouts. And remember, an icon is
bouncing in the dock all the while. I'll get around to it, just keep
your pants on...
OS 9 doesn't have a dock with bouncing icons in it.
Notifications are preferred there, I believe. They were implemented for
the very situation we're discussing to address the very objections I've
voiced. Bouncing icons are the OS X incarnation of the same
functionality.
I'm with Christopher Nebel. I think Apple has this right.
