Someone I know is in the midst of switching to OS X. He has a whole load of
archived messages in Eudora on his Windows box. Ideally, he wants to end up
with the messages as individual text files in hierarchical folders that
reflect the mailbox structure. Unfortunately Eudora on Windows won't let
him save a whole bunch of emails as separate text files so he would have to
go through each and every one of them and save them individually.
Would it be possible to import the Eudora mailboxes as is to the mac and
then run an applescript in Eudora that steps through the messages and
saves/files them out to the correct folders? Or is there some better way of
going about this?
You can ftp the mbx files direct to a new rfolder in your Mail Folder
and have nothing more to do. Otherwise you zip them on the Win
machine with a program that will change the line endings to Mac and
then put them in the new folder, or finally, you can transfer them
unchanged and changer the line endings on the Mac, either with a
script or in BBEdit.
