Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, the situation I'm working on
involves an SSH connection to a machine running VMS and the remote machine
does not understand UNIX commands.

To have a full solution in AppleScript, I would need to suppress the line
feed issued by the "do script" command in Terminal so I can send the
Control-T sequence without transmitting any text that might be on the
current command line.
