MacOS 8.6 question

  • Subject: MacOS 8.6 question
  • From: Doug McNutt <email@hidden>

1.1.3 is the version returned by the AppleScript Editor on my 8500 running MacOS 8.6. I am trying to transfer operations that are currently running on my G4 running MacOS 9.2 which I want to commit to Jaguar. They need to run reliably while I screw around with OS neXt. AppleScript 1.8.3 is running on the G4 - or at least that's what About Script Editor seems to say.

URL Access Scripting on 1.1.3 seems not to handle the https (secure) protocol and it's making my scripts fail under OS 8.6.

Can I safely install AS 1.8.3 on MacOS 8.6? Can I install URL Access Scripting from OD 9.2 in OS 8.6? Is there a way to implement URL Access (as opposed to URL Access Scripting) from OS 9.2 into OS 8.6?

Is there anyplace on the Apple web site, or elsewhere, at which I should be looking to answer this kind of question?
