Why doesn't "Paste Reference" work under OS X?
Dave, you really should use Smile instead of Apple's Script Editor.
1st, you can drop an icon to a window of Smile and get, either its
path as a string, or (if you press command while dropping) a file
reference to it.
2nd, Smile includes a scriptable text editor, so you would probably
achieve what you want in very few lines.
3rd, Smile includes a persistent context mechanism, so you can script
interactively: you run and test the lines of your script one by one.
Smile is a feedbackware - you don't have to pay for it with money.
