One the question of the Services menu, none of my carbon apps give me a menu at Services. I have a feeling they did once and that something I added disabled it, but I've forgotten what this might have been. Any ideas?

Same here!

I've spent all evening dealing with the problems I caused in succeeding to get the Services Menu back. In the end I went into 9.2.2 for about the tenth time and simply renamed my Preferences folder so that on reboot in 10.1.4 I had no prefs at all. Now everything's working fine. I can restore what old prefs I really need as the need arises.

One good thing is that Safari keeps its prefs out of the way, so I still have all my bookmarks etc.
