OK, everyone notice the important implementation difference.
Mac OS 7 through 9 default to "interact with local"
Mac OS X defaults to "interact with all", regardless of whether "Accept Remote Events" is on.
Presumably this was changed for a reason, although I'll bet we'll have a hard time finding out what that reason was. ;)
