I think you've pretty much summed up the situation. There is no means
to script Palm Desktop to generate vCard data, so you'd have to do it
yourself. I actually wouldn't expect that to be too much work, but
parsing vCard to go the other direction could be quite involved. I
considered adding support for getting the vCard representation for an
item to the next release, but I ran out of time, unfortunately.
By the way, I've completely rewritten the scripting support in Palm
Desktop. No promise on when it will ship, though. It should be a big
improvement overall, but one thing that may affect you is I removed
the 'export' command. I did so partly for time reasons, but also
because it gave you no control on exactly what it exported, so I
decided scripters were probably better off just getting the properties
they're interested in and generating tab-delimited text files
themselves if that's what they wanted.
