I am pretty sure this is possible, but just want to check. Without using
Apple System Profiler, is there a simple call to find out the serial number
of the machine? I realize that there is no guarantee that there is a serial
number on any machine, I am really just looking for a means that will work
with about 90% of the machines to get a unique number (not the MAC address,
although that can be a fall back). Any suggestions?
