Ah, but accepting that such a promise was made, then it was NOT kept. What we had at the beginning with 7.1 (?) was a full working version of Hypercard. I still have it here running in Classic. So far as I'm aware this is not publically available for free -- all you get is the Player, which is only useful so long as people are writing for Hypercard, and they can't write for Hypercard using a free version.

Does anyone know why Apple don't release the enabled version? Surely they would lose nothing and actually gain by doing so. It's as though they have locked up for eternity one of the better products of Apple history. It makes no sense to me.
