The Save Dialog has a "Hide extension" checkbox. Not exactly what you're

Well I'd like to know how you do it.
I save a script as Untitled 14 in Eudora's Scripts folder with the
hide extension box clicked. The script is saved as Untitled 14.scpt.
I go to Finder preferences and uncheck 'show all file extensions' --
this makes not a scrap of difference until I restart the machine.
At the end, the extension is hidden in the Finder but still visible
in the Eudora menu.
If I now (after the restart) save another script for Eudora, the SE
window does not show the extension and the Finder does not show the
extension (except in the info window) but the new script in Eudora's
menu still shows the name and the extension.
I have not tried, but I guess other carbon apps with Scripts menus
will behave the same.
