I just ran choose file name in Script Debugger and the default was the desktop. I chose Documents and then ran it again. It defaulted to Documents. I then switched to Script Editor 2 and it defaulted to Documents. It appears that there's some mechanism for remembering the last choice.

That's my experience, too--using only Script Editor 2, though. I even quit the app and ran it anew; it retained the last accessed folder.
