Is there support of Desktop Printer Manager (Scripting Additions; OS
8-9) running in Classic Mode under OS X?
When attempting any AppleScript "tell application "Desktop Printer
Manager..." regardless of the statements. Encountering "Desktop
Printer Manager unexpectedly quit: PFEInfoLib -2624" and AppleScript
error "-609 Connection is invalid". No success in locating the
"PFEInfoLib -2624" result code in either the Support or Development
(ADC) area at the Apple web site.
Noting that "Desktop Printer Manager" does not appear as an application
under OS X, maybe this is an indicator of what is being encountered.
It appears as a Document under OS X, so why should it be expected that
the "tell application..." should work, it's not an application? And,
it's not appearing as a Scripting Addition in either OS 9 or OS X; it's
a faceless background application. So, maybe it simply isn't supported
in Classic?
Has anyone had success automating creation and selection of a Desktop
Printer in Classic mode? It makes me question whether the necessary
support exists to do it via a "C" application. How come Desktop
Printer Utility gets to have all the fun???
