And further, the effect is different if the cursor is in a field when you
perform such a script. You will note a curious behavior if you edit a field,
leave the cursor in that field, and the execute the script step. In that
case, other copies of the same field on the same layout will take on the
formatting of the just-edited field. If you exit the field, and run the
script step again, the field's revert to their original (layout-applied)
formatting.
For an example FileMaker file which demonstrates the use of both the FM-only
script step "set field" and the AppleScript equivalent, you can download the
tip file called "Reset Field Format".
