Hi all,
In OS9 and Classic, Quark returned it's font list like:
name:"HelveticaNeue BlackCond"
name:"Arial Narrow Bold Italic"
name:"AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight" ...and so on
Now in Quark 6, font list returns just names of families.
name:"Helvetica Neue"
name:"Arial Narrow"
name:"American Typewriter"
If I ask Illustrator 10 what fonts it has, it replies with every
single font:
Name:"AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight"
Name:"AmericanTypewriter-Condensed"
Name:"AmericanTypewriter-CondensedBold"
Is there a new way to retrieve all available fonts from Quark that
I've missed? Going the other direction in Quark is busted too,
apparently.
If I tell an object in Ill10 set font to
"AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight" it works.
If I tell an object in QX6 set font to
"AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight" it errors.
If I tell an object in QX6 set font to "American Typewriter" it works.
How can I set the font to "AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight?"
Any ideas, pretty please?
OS10.3.1 QX6.0, no additional fonts, no additional font management
software.
Thanks,
Bill
My setup is a bit different from yours (I'm running Font Reserve) & I
can
access all of my fonts, but a few questions come to mind:
1. Which version of OS X are you running? (I'm using 10.2.8 so I can't
comment on the font management features of 10.3.) I wonder offhand if
the
10.3 font management thingamajig is at the root of the problem.
2. I assume your OS X fonts are located in
Users/[username]/Library/Fonts.
Do you have them in any other location? Do you have the same font
collection
in OS 9 as in OS X?
Thanks Ethan. I didn't run into this issue until I wandered onto the
config I indicated. No additional fonts were installed. /Users.../Fonts
is empty. American Typewriter is a /Library/Font. Font Book is not
running. I have the Ultimate Font Manager - Suitcase X1. (They just
cleared the Panther hurdle you know.) It's installed but not running.
I'm trying to decide if we're going to buy 40 copies of it to make the
migration to our future. Font Book will become more than we need. In
our workflow an alien font enters the scene and it stays activated for
months until it's ready to be turned off/moved. That doesn't require
the Ultimate Font Manager.
set font of ... to "AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight" works in Panther
to Classic QX4,5 but not to QX6.
Would anyone be able to try that with their Panther/QX6 combos? Please
with sugar.
I was hoping Dr. Haesler would buzz bye and say it's a bug in v6 but is
already fixed in the any day now freebie v6.1.
Automatically I blamed Panther, but Panther/Illustrator10 will set font
of ... to "AmericanTypewriter-CondensedLight."
Panther/QX6 will set font of ... to "American Typewriter" but there's
no way that I've seen to reference the CondensedLight part of the deal.
I have this blank look on my face.
