Variety is the spice of scripting?
The key is to use templates and styles where possible, and if you have
to hard-code a font, set a sample manually and get its properties so
you get the name in the form the app wants.
I love spice. I'm just worried about allergies. Templates and styles? I
can't get my folks to understand where the desktop is.
We're about to throw 40 people into OS10.3/QX6 that are cemented in
OS9/QX4. I'm terrified that it's going to look like they're running up
the beach at Normandy. I naturally, will be the only medic.
I found those results I posted interesting, especially TextEdit's
behavior. Does it go for all cocoa apps?
Since applescript's automation is the nucleus of our work flow, I was
alarmed by Quark's changed behavior.
I also read about improved font blablabla in QX6.1.
Can anyone share their experience scripting InDesign? I'm not
interested in Quark bashing. I'm impressed by InDesign's dictionary,
but I haven't had the time to dive in. Before we storm Normandy, I'm
supposed to make sure that InDesign isn't the answer. The QX/ID seesaw
hinges on automation for us.
Everything I'm reading seems to side towards ID, but the technologies
mentioned are beyond the scope of this forum.
