I'm sure it will. ;-) Let's just say that 'label' and and 'icon family' have
said the same thing since perhaps OS 10.1? (I'm losing track.)
Ah, kidding. OK. :D
On the other hand, 'label index' property of item (and all
subclasses such as file) said the same thing, and now here it is in
Panther.
Yep. It all depends on how you define "soon". Apple measures it in
years; perhaps they're just focused on getting into
corporate/enterprise markets, and can't be bothered now with the
needs of individuals. (Unless it demos well.)
