You can still download AS 1.8.3 for OS 9, I believe. And also the OS X
version for OS 10.1.5.
Since Jaguar OS 10.2, AppleScript seems to be fully integrated as part of
the OS. It may be that changes in the file system and in 'alias' format in
AppleScript happened together. There were also some big changes in OS
10.3/AS 1.9.2 that may be co-dependent. Within each major system version
(10.2.x, 10.3.x) you can just update to the current latest OS (1.2.8, 1.3.2)
to get the latest and greatest AS version.
