Ideas for apps that allow digital sigs of PDFs?

I am using Digital signatures in Adobe acrobat to sign PDF documents. Adobe has some problems with ease of workflow. I think I can script around the problems, but before I put a lot of time into it I was wondering if anyone knew of an app that is scriptable and can digitally sign PDFs with sigs that would show up in a commonly readable reader such as Adobe acrobat reader or Apples preview.

By the way, if Chris Nebel is watching, Apple could sure help out the field of document interchange if a standard for document electronic signature on PDF's was promoted. Most systems now only allow reading in proprietary browsers, or don't allow arbitrary documents to be signed. PDF's are a great common format, but Adobe Acrobat 6 has a lot to be desired in it's speed and ease of use, and v5 of acrobat didn't take file names over 32 characters. Maybe you could chat up Steve about that next time you two lunch.
