Checking for logged on guests

How can I check for logged on guests in OSX if I'm sharing a folder?

I have a watched folder with a script to process data dropped into the folder. When the work is finished, I want to send a message to the guest using the process. I have a script to send the message to a remote machine. Now I need the identity of the currently logged on guests. Ideally, it would be nice to send the message to the guest that dropped the file, but if necessary, I'll send the message to everyone whom is logged on.

Seems like I remember being able to do this in OS9
