I'll agree with qualifications. The "that's the way it is, so live
with it" attitude does creep through from time to time. And
personally, I find anonymous posting to public discussion lists
suspect. YMMV.
I'm certainly telling you the way it is, but I never implied that I
think you should accept it and be happy. Constructive feedback is
REALLY helpful and is the reason any of us read the list at all. Mail's
additions to 10.2.3 were primarily driven by what was desperately asked
for the most on this list (scriptable rules and targeting the message
viewer window). What we're doing for the next release is driven by this
list, too.
I'm not sure what this anonymous stuff is. I'm not posting anonymously.
Not posting my last name shouldn't have any impact on the content of
what I'm saying.
I feel entirely justified in bitching, complaining and snarling from
time to time. I've got ten years of frustration behind me and
sometimes it's worth picking up the 2x4 again.
None of that will get you anywhere. As most people who've read this
thread can attest, it was 99% unproductive bickering and 1% productive
feedback. Provide feedback. Be polite. Realize that the needs of lots
of other projects, people, and priorities are taken into account and
what you want specifically may not get the priority that you want it to
have.
