I'll agree with qualifications. The "that's the way it is, so live with
it" attitude does creep through from time to time. And personally, I
find anonymous posting to public discussion lists suspect. YMMV.
Why not post constructive criticism, make feature requests, ask for
clarifications in a more moderate tone?
Um, because BTDTPDAWTTSAS*? I've been involved on the outer circle of
discussions about Applescript with Apple and publishing software
vendors like Adobe and Quark for a decade now. The complaints really
haven't changed substantially through four major OS versions and dozens
of revs to Applescript itself.
There have been few people at Apple that really understand the
potential and importance of this technology. We probably have more true
advocates of AS inside Apple now than at any time in the past and yet
it remains of marginal importance, and appears in Apple apps through
(sometimes) guerrila action!
I feel entirely justified in bitching, complaining and snarling from
time to time. I've got ten years of frustration behind me and sometimes
it's worth picking up the 2x4 again.
