Hello,
I know this will also need to be posted on the FileMaker list, but I
wanted to get people's perspective on the "do-ability" of this
particular functionality from an AppleScript perspective.
We are looking into options for contact management/CRM software and are
considering everything from a custom-designed web application to
Filemaker (on OS X) to off the shelf stuff a la ACT. Apart from basic
database functionality, what our solution needs most of all is an email
reminder system, i.e., a system that allows the user to specify when
he/she is to be reminded (via email) that a certain task (follow-up
call, meeting, whatever) needs to happen. Preferably, this
functionality needs to be available to users accessing the database
over the web interface to FM.
I know FM includes a "send email" script, but that appears to be
generate an immediate email AND appears to invoke the client-side email
system (I need it to use the server's mail program or SMTP service).
I imagine the solution will involve using an AppleScript in conjunction
with OS X's cron function. Any other broad stroke approaches folks can
suggest?
