I have a series of scripts that back up data using the 'stuff' command line
tool that comes with Stuffit Deluxe. They do what they're supposed to do,
but for some reason they also tend to leave the Finder in an unstable state.
Specifically, after running one of these scripts, I can work in the Finder
as long as I only use the keyboard. As soon as I try to click on a file or
folder with the mouse, the Finder crashes, and remains unstable after
relaunching. I want to avoid having to launch one of the Stuffit GUI
applications in my scripts. Does anyone know what's going on with the
Finder? Is there some additional step that I need to add to my scripts to
"reset" the Finder somehow? Or some other way to stuff files from a script
without launching an app (maybe through Magic Menu?)?
TIA,
Michael
