You can pick up Tcl basics (it's built into OS X from 10.0) in about 1
night. It has a super easy to learn regexp & regsub procs and loads of
string manipulation facilities built-in. There's a PDF by Brent Welsh
available at:
http://www.beedub.com/book which is a totally lucid
introduction to the language.
About Cocoa, I've taken a few steps and am very impressed. Especially
with the slick class system and the integration of
nibs/code/AppleScript (Studio). But I think it's lacking in some the
the text editing finesse that long time Mac users have been accustomed
to through applications such as CodeWarrior, BBEdit, Alpha, and the
WASTE text engine. And I wish they'd get their freakin' navigation keys
together instead of trying to foist billy box conventions where they
don't belong. Arrrrrggggghhhh!
