Phil,

The "record" feature is not available in OS 10.x script editors 1.7 or 1.9.
However, you have OS 9.x you can try it there in its script editor.

i'm completely new to applescript

i am running OS X 10.1.5 with applescript 1.8.1 and script editor 1.7

after i hit "record" i open up an application (i've tried a few) and
then open a file and then hit "stop" - then all i get is the clock type
icon to say it's thinking and then i get nothing.

cheers
phil
