I have a script that reads in a 1.1 MB file in OS 9.2.2. This script is run by another script (an applet) with the "run script" command. I get an out of memory error (-108) even if I allot 8 MB to my script runner. When I watch the runner's memory usage in 'About this Computer', it is clear that less than half the assigned 8 MB ever gets used, but I still get the -108 message. If I run the same set up in Classic in OS X, everything works fine.

I would first attempt to track down whether the -108 error is sent by an application your script is "telling", or by AppleScript itself.
