A newbie question...

I am looking for a very simple script. I want to add boiler plate text wherever the cursor is. Basically, I want to be able to press a function key, and have text inserted at the cursor. I will primarily use this for Mail.

Can a script just take the uppermost open window, and add text after the cursor? Or does it have to talk to a specific application.

It seems so simple, yet I haven't been able to make it work.

Thank you,

Might be easier if you used something like QuickKeys, or SpellCatcher (better) if you are still using O/S9. These will put the boiler text you have saved anywhere, in any text application.

Also KeyQuencer, which I haven't used but I understand does boiler text through macros.
