Strange problem with text item delimiters

  • Subject: Strange problem with text item delimiters

Kai;

Thanks for your detailed discussion of the issue (problem?) of references.

It certainly is counter-intuitive that:

text items of (name of aFile)

is significantly different than:

text items of (get name of aFile)

or:
set x to name of aFile
text items of x

or:
text items of ((name of aFile) as string)

I agree that you can get text items of Unicode text. That does not
appear to be a problem. As for why my script previously worked, I
probably had, almost without thinking, 'optimized' the script to take
out an 'unnecessary' assignment, and broke it without realizing.

Thanks for everyone who participated in the discussion, I think I've
learned a lot!
