I don't believe the Finder.app has ftp capabilities.

I found that, using the Finder to access "ftp://ftp.tiaonline.org/";, I get a password dialog; this happens whether I use the Finder directly or use Applescript. Even using "anonymous" and my email address as the password, I could not get to the site. I couldn't find a combination that would get past the dialog.

With Internet Explorer and Fetch, I get to the site without getting a dialog.

There is that reference to 'your favorite browser', which is there for a reason.

And your favorite ftp browser can be the Finder.
