Is there a way to make the script just run, no questions asked?

Peter,
This assumes you are using Script Editor on your OS9.0.4 machine (I'm
guessing so.)
When you save your script, choose Classic Applet from the Format pop-up.
Then you will see two tick boxes appear below that. One says "Stay Open"
and the other says "Never Show Startup Screen".
For your use you do not want a Stay Open, so leave that box unchecked.
The next tick box Never Show Startup Screen is checked by default (OMM) and
you should leave that one checked.
I think you've probably unchecked that box, thereby getting the dialog with
Quit and Run buttons.
Best of luck with AppleScript. I hope you enjoy exploring its amazing
potential. Recording in the Finder is good place to begin to reduce your
mouseload. (I can never record as I always get total crashes with "Bus
Error" but I do remember the ease of recording user actions. Ho hum.)
