Dave,
I can not reproduce that result. I've used FileBuddy 7 to set and unset the
custom icon flag, I've stripped images of a resource fork, I've added and
removed a thumbnail icon using the MoreFileInfo contextual menu, and I even
tried removing the file extension _and_ stripping the resource fork...the
files still show up and are able to be selected.
