I think I got it.
If there is an interaction with the user, you need to "activate" the
finder. Right ?

Forgive me if I've missed something here, but it sounds like the
question you asked (what is GUI scripting?) hasn't really been answered
properly (Graphical User Interface, HA! Anyone with a computer should
be understood to know that one, right?).
