Fonts, Size and Color in Filemaker Pro

To all:

I've been attempting to come up with script statements which allow me to control the font, size and hopefully color of text in Filemaker Pro. So far, I'm continuing to get error messages. I would appreciate it if someone could post an actual working statement for Applescript in Filemaker Pro that accomplished the above with selected text.

On a more general note, the thing I find most frustrating about learning Applescript is that there is no place I'm aware of which will definitively tell you the syntax for commands WITH actual examples of statements using that syntax. As a result, I find myself spending tons of time trying to guess what Applescript wants to make a script statement work. From my perspective as a coach and educator, this is ridiculous. Why not publish actual working examples of script statements that people can emulate?

With OneClick's macro scripting language, sadly usable only in OS 9, this was a basic ingredient in the mix. This is why the OneClick language was so easy and fun to learn. Continued successes boosts confidence. If Applescript is to thrive in OS X and become more widely used, I feel that this needs to be added.

Additionally, OC offered the ability to perform an action and have the script statements created from these actions. Even though the resulting script usually needed tweeking, at least you had a starting point from which to begin. Applescript has been around for years. Why hasn't someone come up with a way to create a script in this manner?

Sincerely,
Howard
