Well... that sucks :-) Another "undocumented feature".
Ummm...no. There has to be a hierarchy of "who responds to what". RTM.

Easy enough to do... I was just hoping that it wouldn't be neccessary.

Problem is "maximum" is a number I need to get from FMP.
That's no problem. The suggestions offered to you do not mean that you can
not get a value from FileMaker.
The problem you are now having is just a "learning AS" problem which will go
away soon enough.
Again, RTFM. ;)

Yes, I am doing all that.
Successfully? Hmmm. Okay. But then why are having a problem understanding
that you can pass a value from FM to AS? How would any script work if it
couldn't get values from other applications?
It _is_ called inter-application communication, BTW.
Go to Macscripter.net, look at the left-hand menu, and you will see a header
near the bottom titled "Language Guide". Those are links to two formats of
the ASLG - the AppleScript Language Guide. Bookmark or download as
appropriate. Well, and also read as needed.

You should have seen the fish I caught. Huge! It was so big that I just
had to throw it back, because I knew I could never fit it in the truck. :)
