Both issues will most probably be solved if you install GhostScript, which includes "gs" (should be able to send ps to printers) and "ps2pdf".

OMM, to get the "man" for these commands, I have to run:

--------------------
do shell script "man -M /usr/local/man gs (or ps2pdf)"
--------------------
