Both issues will most probably be solved if you install GhostScript,
which
includes "gs" (should be able to send ps to printers) and "ps2pdf".
You mean AppleScript is not capable of dumping a postscript file into a
desktop printer? (A postscript printer at that!) ???
I suspect there's a better way, but in OS X you don't need to install
anything extra to do this. See the manual page for enscript.
OMM, to get the "man" for these commands, I have to run:
--------------------
do shell script "man -M /usr/local/man gs (or ps2pdf)"
--------------------
My heart sinks. I am such a novice I don't even know what "man" means.
I
guess I'll just tell my colleague to do it all manually as usual. I've
written really fiddly scripts for Quark that do great things, then
when all
I want to do is print a file, it can't be done.... SIGH
"man" mean manual, the help system from OS X's command line side. Just
open a terminal window and type "man commandname" to learn about a
command or "man -k keyword" to search for a topic.
