One of these days. I decided to opt first for Python, because it seems just
as powerful and much more readable and approachable. Its syntax, although
rather leaner, is even quite similar to AppleScript's. I realize that's
restricting me, for 'do shell script' built in, to OS 10-.2 and higher.
(Although there is also a MacPython for earlier OS's including OS 8/9/10.1,
etc.). That's OK by me. Soon enough everyone, or almost everyone, in OS X
will be in 10.2 or higher, where Python is built in. Perl will have to wait
for me, but I'll ask a few questions here when I need a short Perl script
for OS 10.1 use. I'm grateful for the help I've already received from you
and others along those lines.
