In AppleScript? Surely you jest. AppleScript doesn't even know how to dimension a variable let alone how to double them up. Try "set power to -2^2" to get an idea of the mathematical ability of AS.

Waterloo Maple is an option but its Mac interface stinks and is certainly not scriptable. Perhaps Maple in a UNIX version under OS neXt.

Check the MacScitech list. There has been some success with FORTRAN reported. There is a lot of eigen_code in that language. Check NASA.
