Gee Chris, it's wonderful how you manage to echo my thoughts before you've even had time to read them !

I found a better way to do it. The droplet that creates the new droplet first dittos itself to the new droplet path, then stores a new script in it with AE and finally loads it and sets its properties according to the file dropped on the original droplet. It's looking good.

The idea (which is nearly realized now) is to create a better alternative to DropScript, which is what the AE haters on macperlosx use. The idea is that you drop a perl script onto a droplet and this creates a new droplet that will take the dropped files as arguments to the perl script stored in it.

The advantages of an AS droplet are 1. that it can stay open if you want, and 2. that it knows the path to itself, neither of which DropScript can do.
