Trying to export memos in Palm Desktop 4.0

I want to simply export my memos from Palm Desktop 4.0 into a "Palm
Desktop" format, so I can back it up. I went to Palm Desktop's
Dictionary, and it looks relatively self explanatory:
export: Export addresses, to dos, and memos
export type class -- the type of items to export (address, to do, or
memo)
into file specification -- the file into which to export
export seems self explanatory enough, but I'm not sure what the "Into
File Specification" means. I know it says "the file into which to
export", but I don't seem to know what to do afterward. I thought maybe
it should mean into a file's name, so I enclosed the name
"memo_exports" in quotes for a string. After an error message, I
thought maybe it meant "into the file format" (in this case Palm
Desktop), both with and without quotes, same exeution error message,
which is:
Palm Desktop got an error: Can't make some data into the expected type.
