However, your point about new enhancements being primarily for X, thus favoring X downloads is probably somewhat valid.

I note you used the headless analogy. I think that's somewhat appropriate. MacOS 7 thru 9, as much as we've loved it over the years, is dead, much in the same way that a headless chicken is; not knowing it's dead and not caring.

Luckily, it's only an analogy. If it were a metaphor, we'd be in a world of trouble. ;)
