Only the application (or whatever) that is running the script knows where its file is. That's why OSA Menu used to overload "path to me" to provide the script file location. It was the only one who knew this information. That's why we added an "active script" to InDesign which knows what script file is currently being run.

Presumably Apple's script menu could implement something similar, as could any other application capable of running scripts.

We didn't see the Panther release notes until after it shipped, so we didn't know these existed.
