I believe the capitalization auto-defaults to how the variable was named the first time you compiled the script.

Saving your script as text, making the case changes (in BBEdit or such), then recompiling should work, though I think there's a simpler way... just can't recall it at the moment and don't have my notes from Applescript Pro here at home.
