You'll get "Black" for every type of images, unless you have tinted
(in QuarkXPress) a TIFF image with a color.

Here is a way. Go to David Lloyd's web site <http://www.kanzu.com/>
and download "Image Info". This is an application which "is a scriptable
image information viewer" (from the "ReadMe").
