Someday I'll get around to examining the dictionary with smile but
can someone say if it's possible to write a script that will cause

Haven't tried it, but I think it's doable.
Is the "AppleScript" dictionary the same as the "Script Editor" dictionary?
No. Script Editor is an application and it has it's own dictionary.
The "AppleScript" dictionary we are talking about is the one that
contains the commands and object classes of the language itself, that
is, for the things you can do in AppleScript without invoking any
particular application in a specified Tell statement.
