Says who? Maybe you've just learned that compiled scripts run faster than
script applications. That's information worth knowing. The same or greater
speed benefit applies also to compiled scripts running from application
script menus (Tex-Edit Plus, Entourage, etc.), when that application is
targeted. Hopefully we may also get that increase in speed some day from
compiled scripts running in the system script menu, but those are currently
run by System Events, I think, and don't benefit.
